Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy

A Poem by Sean Allen
"

I am Bipolar, it's not a disease. We are a bit different perhaps, but often we see things that others cannot. I met a young Bipolar lady recently who just graduated high school, and this is what I saw

"

Cotton Candy

The horse goes up

And it goes down.

Some kids laugh

but some just frown.

And just sometimes….

Your eyes spot one.

That might be scared

or just be done?

The ride slows down

excitement builds.

While kids leap off….

Some want more thrills.

Some parents help

The Carnie sees….

If the ride is cleared

While more kids squeeze….

The gates outside,

that fling open wide

as more kids run

To take a ride.

The horse goes up

And it goes down.

But some kids laugh

while some just frown.

Bittersweet rendition, the merry-go-round, what a perfect metaphor, life makes us all dizzy in general but for someone with Bipolar I'm sure it can be even more frustrating. Love the title, sweet way to look at life's quirks & different views.
