Firecracker

Firecracker

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

Like a fire, some would describe her,

And she wondered how so many

Different ideas could revolve

Around the one simple word –

And how that one simple word

Could encompass those many

Different ideas that also seemed

To revolve around her.

The fire in her eyes,

That smoldered and taunted,

Dancing in a cackling flame,

Drawing the unsuspecting and

Innocent moth closer and closer;

The fiery courage it took

To continue the charade

Of only being there to give

Light, to be the muse and the

Source of happiness while

Hiding the burning desire

To scorch and sear and

Flame and flare and

Char and finally consume

Everything in her way;

The fiery temper that

Always took over in the end,

Igniting the wings of the poor moth

Who came too close

So that it could never again

Flit away to the safety in the air –

So that it was ruined and smoking

On the ground and she

Continued roaring through,

Roasting and toasting as she went.
