Kissing Alpha Aquila

Kissing Alpha Aquila

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

My hand reaches up to touch your shining face,

Grazing the midnight sky along the way,

Passing solar systems and galaxies

To feel the skin upon your sunlit cheek.

I grasp your shirt, holding onto stardust

As meteors and comets fly by in flames,

But I only see your light upon me,

Brighter than the sun, darker than the moon,

And lovelier than any nighttime star,

Even those which we choose to wish upon.

For no falling or stagnant star compares

To sharing lips with Alpha Aquila.

Author's Note

Dressed in Poetry
Aquila = the eagle who carried the thunderbolts of Zeus
There are other myths around Aquila (and around the star Alpha Aquila in particular), but this is what I was referring to.

i like this, the ending line is original, the rest sounds intently cliche. i couldnt feel this poem, but the imagery was nice, my suggestion, strive for ideology and not commonality. you have a refined way with words

Great job with the imagery you created for us, and like everyone said, I liked the whole mythological aspect. Imaginative and unique. Great write :)
