La Morte d'Égalité

La Morte d'Égalité

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

Angry comments from every corner -

Sighs and rants and screams of fury.

Newscasters chanting gleefully as they

Burn peace signs alongside civility.

Rolling eyes and clever smirks

And gestures of frustration

From every side,

As people do not understand

Why “the other side” doesn’t understand.

But who can comprehend their

Insane shrieking babble?

In the meantime, Democracy tries

(Vainly)

To raise her hand and speak for a moment -

To stop the fighting.

Instead, she is trampled in the riot.

Those who try to save her

With calm words and logic

Merely end up imprisoned

By the first amendment

With the bars of free speech surrounding

As they weep for liberty

For equality

Lost.

Equality's Death, I would've loved to see this piece written in french. Very sincere, or better said, truthfull. It hurts to remember we live in such a "society", if we can call it that way. Intolerance is everywhere, and I mean it, because even though I cannot stand intolerance itself, that alone makes me an intolerant as well. Great writing.

It's better to see it for what it is than to be taken in by the swindle. Nice poem.

I like this piece a lot. Really well crafted. We feel the frustration from the subject. The quest for liberty is quite impossible actually, and we feel it here. Really great job here.
