Do I Belong Here or Do I Leave

Do I Belong Here or Do I Leave

A Poem by Dushyant Thadani

Give me a reason to stay here
Give me a reason to continue this journey
I don't even know where I belong
And what I am supposed to be doing

I feel so lost in this hollow earth
Which surprises me as a few people like me
And maybe sometimes relate to me
And can afford to be with me

Finding a place to belong is hard
But its harder to find a reason to belong
To adapt and adjust to life's whimsical needs
To do what needs to be done and go on

But in the end it's still upto me isn't it
To find what I really need to do
To find the reason to stay or move on
Or just leave it all behind and start anew

Profound song of the heart played in such a melancholy music... how your questions become questions for us all... It is up to you... up to each of us to find where our piece must be placed... “I like to imagine that the world is one big machine. You know, machines never have any extra parts. They have the exact number and type of parts they need. So I figure if the entire world is a big machine, I have to be here for some reason. And that means you have to be here for some reason, too.” ― The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Your poem seems heartfelt, sincere; questioning self-worth in life and on Earth. It's more than probable that most people think themselves lacking in this or that skill or situation. But surely we have to explore ourselves then, find where we belong, accept our limitations. Perhaps change direction if possible or... grow. Doubt far better than arrogance, surely? Questioning is far better than always knowing all the answers!

Your poem has a way of inspiring thought, of taking the reader away from wherever and move onto or into another place.. isn't that up to you. Thank you so much for that.
