Nicotine, Alcohol, and The Smell Of Me.

Nicotine, Alcohol, and The Smell Of Me.

A Poem by Mak(ayla:)
"

We fell in love, even though we never admitted it, in a... mysterious way. And all you'll have is, Nicotine, Alcohol, and The Smell Of Me.

"
Our love story is unlike any other.
We fell in love, even though we never admitted it,
in a... mysterious way.
We'd always sit out and smoke two or three cigarettes,
and talk until about one in the morning,
dreading the start of a new day,
and the end of a perfect night.

I remember the first night you asked to see me,
you didn't want to be alone,
and just needed company.
So I met you at the motel,
you offered me a swig of Tennessee Whiskey,
but I refused, as you continued to drink.
That was the first, and the only night,
I've ever seen you drunk.

Halloween night,
I met you outside
the place you were staying.
Handed me a cigarette, and a lighter,
then propped my feet in your lap.
I closed my eyes, tilted my head back,
inhaled..
then exhaled slowly,
as your hands massaged my feet,
like no other person has done before,
and I was in heaven,
and as the night went on,
I slowly realized...
I'm starting to love you.

Time has passed,
many endless nights,
of our long conversations,
and funny stories.
Then one day,
it happened.
You told me you have fallen for me,
and my heart soared.
Then there we were,
on our first official date,
and we sealed it with a kiss,
little did I know that,
that was going to be our only one.

Endless nights,
were becoming a thing in the past.
Tight hugs, and passionate kisses,
became one with the wind.
Long conversations,
are more like fair weather friends,
and my heart,
slowly started to hurt again.

You were my friend,
someone I trusted,
and now you only show,
when something is wrong,
well.. sometimes.
One day, something truly bad will happen,
and you'll be a minute too late,
and I'll be gone forever.
And all you'll have is
Nicotine, Alcohol, and The Smell Of Me.
