Naturesick

Naturesick

A Poem by Sweet & Tender Hooligan
"

Haiku poem prayer for Japan. Nature is often idealized and romanticised like love but nature can be cruel and evil. The title plays on the romanticism of nature and love, and the word lovesick.

"

Earth's seizure, sea's hemorrhage
Prayers from distant hearts
Life's fragility, nature's heartache.

Author's Note

Sweet & Tender Hooligan
The title is inspired by McCarthy's "Antinature" which is used as a theme for my poem.
Forgive the format as I'm not used to writing haiku's so I don't think I've written it right. But the point was to write a short haiku like poem for Japan.

Thinking of Japan and the survivors and victims.
It's a terrible, cruel and unbelievable moment in history.

The statistics of dead and missing in Japan right now are heart-wrenching, and the sad broken homes, damaged buildings, and all those people trying to put together what pieces they can find, makes my stomach do ungodly flips. I wish for their happiness and well being, and that they suffer no more... It's been too much. This was a powerful but simple haiku... I liked it.

Nature is cleansing itself but in a away it takes thousands of lives, though she doesn't realize it. So this is the result...
It is horrible and traumatic, i feel for them... I send them hope... nature will give something in back... it might not be homes or the people she has took... but she will give back...

stunning work!!

Yes, it's all so terrible what is happening in Japan... you look at the pictures, at 'life's fragility' and think, how do the living ever recover from all this.

"Earth's seizure, sea's hemorrhage"... at times like this nature always seems so much bigger than us... on a grand scale against so many fragile lives.

nice :)

the diction is flawless.
the fact that earths seizure is natures heart ace -or those lines I just love. and everything in between those words exhibit the disaster.

but besides japan -I understand how it embodies lovesick qualities.

Perfect title. There is a lot of truth packaged tightly here. Good job!
