|Let Me Catch My Breath|

I want to be better.

To say your name.

To state my claim.

Yet here I am.

Merely disappointing.

I have a sense of insecurity.

I’m fearful.

I’m independent.

I don’t like change.

But that’s all that has been occurring.

You are on fast forward.

But I’m stuck in the past.

You expect me to leap forward.

You haven’t let me catch my breath.

Maybe if you were patient. 

Maybe if you were forgiving.

I wouldn’t feel so insecure.

I would be willing.

Yet here we are at a stand still.

I’m frozen.

And you’re off.
