When We Were Happy

When We Were Happy

A Poem by Cheavel DeLuna
"

i little something for a friend of mine

"

Did you think of me much?

Through the years I was missing.

No, I’d think not.

Yet did I think of you?

No, I doubt not.

We weren’t close then.

But as I see it now,

we never were.

Did you think of me much?

Before I got to know you.

No, I cannot be sure.

But did I think of you?

No, not as I do now.

I thought you naive then.

But as  see it now,

you still are,

if not more.

Did you think of me much?

When we were friends.

Yes, I would think so,

though I cannot be sure.

But did I think of you then?

No, not of more than before.

You were a good friend then.

And I thought you my own.

Do you think of me now?

Now that we are finished.

No, I think not,

not with all the others around.

Do I think of you much?

Yes. That I do.
