The Opener

The Opener

A Poem by Conversing Empty Words

I’m burning out the
night life through misery’s bleeding.
Goodbye came easier than fighting.

I’m seeking heart beats
in the dead and
musical hooks from the deaf.
My reach is limitless
as yours is limited.

I’m blocking it out in hopes
the world will disappear,
but I’m finding it keeps coming -
persistently begging for
open eyes and open minds.

Think twice before lying
about lifestyle changes.
We’re reading your li(n)es
like the news it telling them,
so keep ‘em coming-
we’re waiting on entertainment
in the form of stupidity,
and you my friend,
succeed.
