The Grinding Hole

The Grinding Hole

A Poem by Dusty Mondy
"

Track off of Alias Punch album#1, Alias Punch. You can hear it on

"
I give a tobacco-stained smile,
To the Tommy Bahama shirt,
At 8:37 PM,
A good time,
Between Home and Garden dinner,
And "please your man sex,
Followed by a suburban cigar,
And insane football conversation,

I give a tobacco-stained smile,
To the "Murder by Death" t-shirt,
At 2:54 not available,
A decent time,
Between prolonged mirror staring contest,
And the bragging if ignorance,
Disguised as influence,
Followed by coffee house gig,
New cheddar song,
And self-performed a*****e examination,

I give a tobacco-stained smile,
To the Playboy bunny tanktop,
at 12:13 AM,
An average time,
Just after Smirnoff #3,
And blowjob #17,479,
Which precedes eye-rolling snobbery,
And the fear of age,

I give a tobacco-stained smile,
To the mirror before me,
He looks so unreachable,
All the time,
But, I guess just like my daddy before me,
The grinding hole will grind my soul,
And I have to laugh,
As I hand you your change,
Because I know that I'm more than this.
