A Poem by getinthecarplease

Anonymous begets a chapter for dreary winter days

which we’ll contemplate then clamor in the maze

of all encompassing wavelengths of despondence

over mattress coffins, where apprehension lays.

We’re moulding a chamber for darkness to retire

over vacant pages to the lonesome candle spire.

Author draws a quote for the wavering banner

hung from dusty rafters in a forsaken country manor

as majesty returns in forlorn animation

through fractured ceilings and maplewood floors.

We’re folding the panel on a pallid April tomb

from the ice-floe puzzle to the waking vernal bloom.

Artist traces lines of the fragmented lily row

with petals resting on the brick planter below

as a baffled audience spots misery on the canvas

perhaps the watercolors are reflecting our sadness.

We’re holding a photograph of selves we once knew

sprawled on dawn-clad hills in soft summer dew.

This was such a joy to read! It also made me consider if a photograph can be made without the use of a camera. Somehow, the author and artist and even anonymous were able to capture and depict what they were experiencing both with their senses and sapience. Thanks for sharing this flowing and rhyming poem. Frederick.
