The Young Man

The Young Man

A Poem by Eli
"

I was bored one day in class and had this one idea stuck in my head, and what was created is a kinda philosophical poem that may be hard to understand, so I apologize for that.

This is a previous version of The Young Man.

The young man awaits

For screeches of a train

Lights flicker, an older man states,

"There, time is here"

And cane in hand, money to pay

Quickly walks away.

The young man treading

Through narrow halls and

Unfamiliar faces, warning

From his path. "It is done,"

They call, shaking their heads.

"Again 'tis repeating," they say.

The young man backward he falls

Knowing nothing to learn, nor

Anything to remember. "Those calls,"

He says, "They will never help."

Aboard the train he returns,

His journey, he never learns.

Certainly not perfect (for instance the first stanza is hard to read I think), so please critique!
