I Can Draw Your Eye

I Can Draw Your Eye

A Poem by EMG

I can draw you eye

What? I said in a voice o’ so shy

I can draw your eye;

Let me spy into that eye

And draw all that I see go by

So I sat upon the stool

And let this old fool gaze into my eye

You eye is blue and o’ so true

Are you blue since your eye is too?

What makes you say that?

My brow is stiff and my eye is dry

I give you no clue to you that I am blue.

I sense some pain, some unfortunate stain

A young women, perhaps? that was your mast and jumped ship for another sailor?

Not a sailor, a guitar player, who is a gayer man than I

He nodded and continued to pry into my eye.

Sad because he was once my ally, I continued

A great guy, yet I’d crush him like a fruit fly if I…

O my said the guy prying into my eye

Violence is not the answer, said the guy

Forgetfulness and forgivingness are what should get you by

I pondered and looked at the guy

The man was hard at work, eyeing my eye

You’ll get by, he said and looked up into the mackerel sky

He handed me my picture and we said our goodbyes.
