Birds I & II

Birds I & II

A Poem by EMG

Like a bird she spread her evil wings and left me here

She goes to settle down with another bird for now

Her last words still pierce my heart like a spear

I was left in the nest wondering “how”?

All I could manage was a single tear,

That ran down my face, no loving hand to wipe it away.

I said some things you ought not of overheard

What I would give to go back to that first day

And for one more time I could whisper in your ear, I love my bird.

Flap your wings and leave here

Make your nest elsewhere now

Her words pierce my heart like a spear

I wipe the sweat from my brow

I was as noble as a musketeer

You said you loved me, said we’d grow old together

You walked over me like puppy chow

You said things you didn’t want me to overhear

Didn’t know I could ever allow-

            You to be so cruel

You obviously thought me a fool

O well; what’s done is done

Now its time to have some fun.

I love the last part. "O well; what's done is done. Now it's time to have some fun" lol... But a good read it is... It had a nice flow to it... The thought is pretty clear and so is the story... It's a sad one though, but you got over it just like that.. nice work...
