Nails Hairier Than Hair

Nails Hairier Than Hair

A Poem by Elephants & Coyotes
"

Can't undo awareness.

"

I guess,

The world that burst forth
From my tender red womb
Is maniacally clawing
To get back inside,
Now,

Or am I pulling it by
It's tangled hairs?

Afterall,

I am flustered
With it wrenching
The brush from my hand,
Each time I reach out
To unravel the mess
It's made,

(Or, I made?)

Either way,

I'll let bygones be bygones,
Even if it means
Being carried away -

Lost in sterilized hair strands,
Sleeping wordlessly,
Amid

Insanely white teeth.

Totally fascinating imagery. I didn't get a sense that this was about a child actually, though you reference the womb. It is a bit mysterious to as to what you are referring, but fascinating to contemplate. Am leaning towards ideas coming from your mind perhaps...... sterilized has really thrown me though :) Will be thinking about this one for awhile :)

This is right up my alley. Love the abstract imagery. And the last stanza and line really wrap the whole thing up nicely. Well done.

A very interesting poem. You went in may directions. I like the many strong statements in this poem.

How interesting!
Though, this poem is not about my nonexistent child, I see that the entire piece can be read in that sense...I love hearing from others, the way my words come across.
Thanks for the review!

Scientifically not possible, but the bond between mother and child is like the creator and creation. A mother wouldn't take back the child that way. She'll wreck the world into a thousand pieces if she has to, but a life put out must be allowed to live.
