The Importance Of Buttons

Death begets those without button holes

Rosaries can not say themselves

Strung together by a thread in prayer

Without holes you have no buttons

Without buttons you have no holes

Like murder, like camels through needles

Rich people pass to the next life unnoticed

Somewhat tight, still grasping money

Gasping for breath through metallic needles

Far from the metal eye

To reach the other side

They go through with shards of light

Shirts without white, thin threaded, fractured

Small enough to accommodate greed

Genuflections occur on one knee

In the holier than thou company

Liturgical works go without clothing

Rosaries can not say themselves

Strung together by thread they pray

Men can not live by bread alone

Invisible are the acts of the apostles

Reflecting on their days without pockets

To hold on to buttons closed at all cost

A day without thread is a day delayed

Sown into the fabric of time

Stitched all the way up to good-bye

Charity begins at home with clothes on

Without buttons you remain alone

Have mercy on our shirts without end Amen
