Back
in my Stockton College days when I was going for my teaching degree,
I would ask the students I taught in the classes in the Atlantic
City, Pleasantville, Egg Harbor and Absecon school systems a simple
question, a simple riddle; “What 3 things do you need when you land
on a desert island in the middle of the ocean?”
All
of the students got the first 2 items right but they were perplexed
by the 3rd. They would say food and water. I explained to them they
could survive for several days without food or water. They could only
survive a few minutes without “Air.” Air is the 3rd. answer but
it should be the 1st. Islands need air and everywhere you go on this
planet you need air immediately or you are going to have a bad
day.
Side
Note: I decided against becoming a teacher. I looked for safer work
environments like walking through minefields and stepping into
nuclear power plants during meltdowns.
Today
we are living with an invisible enemy that attacks the very air we
breath. It can not be defeated with conventional weapons. You can not
kill a virus. With luck you can contain or control it.
For
over 30 years my son and I have been kicking around ideas on how to
invent, design, manufacture, market and distribute a breathing device
for athletes and people who exercise when they walk or jog. The
natural air outside has too many contaminates.
I
personally love to run but I’m going nowhere fast with my
inventions and ideas because I have no money. The personal breathing
device we have in mind has to be small, light weight and be able to
change bad air into the right balance of oxygen, nitrogen and
purified good air to remove unwanted particles. (Covid 19 is an
unwanted particle.)
I
spoke with a representative from
the Inogen oxygenator company.
The device or
machine is now light
weight but it cost over a thousand dollars. I was thinking more along
the lines of creating one that cost $19.00 that you can attach to
your belt next to your water bottle when you run. Who would have ever
thought that we would be paying over $1.00 for one of the most
abundant commodities found in nature? Water.
Trust
me. Not only old people will need oxygen devices to survive. You will
be paying more money in the future for air than what you pay for
water now. I have known that simple fact since I was a little child
and I wanted to get in on the ground floor when breathable air was
being developed and manufactured. It is one of those logical
conclusions of the human condition. People need air to breath. You
will expire quickly if not sooner without it. People will be willing
to pay a fortune to have it when it becomes too contaminated and
dangerous to breath.
Cities
like Wuhan and Los Angeles need a clean air product invented today to
combat air pollutants and viral attacks. Biological and chemical
attacks are plausible. Places like the moon and Mars need such air
devices so we can continue our work out there. Right now we have to
bring our own air supply. (I feel confident that we will be able to
manufacture breathable clean air from the ground water found at those
locations.)
Our
very survival as a species might hinge on our ability to create new
personal air devices at a reasonable cost for the masses. (masks not
included.) This is simply some Food for thought, air for the people,
air for survival while we last. Take a deep breath. Enjoy it while
you can.
Have
a wonderful day everyone.
