Exit Strategy

Exit Strategy

A Poem by Earl Schumacker

Love and death

Exit Strategy

When the end comes what is your ending thought

What is your message to the world at large

Let the drums stop. Let there be vanilla ice cream

If not let there be chocolate

Let there be peace. Let there be Beatles

Let It Be and Hey Jude I implore

May all your gods be Jesus

May all your worlds be solid

May your final words be, Stay

Just stay a minute more

I love you as you are

My final thought will be one of these two. "Damn this is gonna hurt!" (In reference to my bad driving) or "damn it I wish I would have put on clothes how embarrassing whose gonna clean this mess!" Thank you for allowing me to reveal what will be my final thought in life. This was a very nice hopeful poem by the way. I love the Beatles especially their classic Yesterday and the haunting Eleanor Rigby.

I wonder Earl, I wonder. I've always been very partial to a McDonald's vanilla milkshake. I hope that will be my last drink. As to music, I think I'd like to drift off to the sounds of Albatross by Fleetwood Mac. No talking, by then I would have said it all. Just holding and squeezing hands of my nearest and dearest before the next adventure. Hope you are OK. Thanks for the read.
