DATING OVER FORTY

 

Did you ever imagine being            

Alone and looking for someone

To share your life with after a divorce and over 40?

Instead of being with who you married?

Now must put yourself out there in the world

Go to online dating sites, meet-ups, social events

Overwhelming to say the least but you must to do it, just be

Very careful not to promise anyone anything

Especially yourself because it is easy to get disappointed

Rolling through pages of online profile photos wondering are these recent or

From another era?

Or sitting in a restaurant wondering who the person is sitting in front of you

Realizing they had a fake photo online.

To say it is daunting venturing out into the dating world is an understatement

You really can’t describe it other than to say it is scary

Dating over forty. Easy solution, date two twenties.
I read your poem and have the suspicion that when you
date, you want someone who will measure up to your ideal.
There is nobody out there who meets such lofty standards.
All the guys you will meet are flawed----isn`t it better to date
a flawed man than date only the ideal then marry a flaw bag ?

I have been married to the same woman for 19 years and I can honestly say I have never thought of joining the dating pool ever again. Once she is gone I will be as well, I cannot imagine life without my soulmate. I am sure it is a scary prospect to say the least
