Rest Easy

Rest Easy

A Poem by Final-Karma
"

Take my hand, and I will show you the true world.

"
Would the world be a better place without us?

The tragic translucent cycle
We offer ourselves on the table

Flesh, Blood, and Bone

How more human can you get?

Parallel worlds that never came true
Fantasy lost beyond paradise's door

Nobody want's to die

The plagued doctor who cures disease
The depressed author that brings joy to children
The suicidal cop who saves lives

What form of life are you living?

I envision a new hope for us
A way out of this misery we call home

We created the trap of life
Setting our souls as bait

So where do we gain?
What is the profit in pain?

A sum of decay and apocalyptic tales
Of children burning in hell

How lost can we be?

Riots between the blind
Disasters that bring blight to the mind

You aren't the solution

You are the cause!

So lay your shame to rest
Breath air of freedom into your chest

There is life beyond these borders

Set sail on these intellectual waters

I believe in you.....

Even if you don't believe in yourself

Sonder

This offering comes across as part Old Testament prophet and part life coach. The speaker rails at humanity for its failings but also offers hope by stating positively that though we are the cause of our own plight we are also the solution to it. No specifics are given, but we are exhorted to lay our shame to rest and embrace a new mindset. I like the encouraging sound of it; it is much preferable to some of the gloomy jeremiads I have read elsewhere. Also, the poet has an admirable command of imagery which is evident throughout the poem. The only suggestions I would make would be to do spell checks on the second word of stanza six and the first word of the second line of stanza seventeen. Well done.

Well I live in hope, but when I look at the destructive forces at play and what we are doing to our planet I too would ask the question that you have titled your work with. Thought provoking. We have much to learn and I think too little time to learn it. Good poem.

Preach buddy, this is the medicine that can numb the pain suffered by us all, unfortunately at the rate, we're going we're pretty terminal.

Thanks man. I still have some hope that we can turn things around, but it has to get worse.
Other people have said it better, so I won't waste time on unnecessary details or observations I can not claim to be my own. But this is my favorite thing you have written, thank you.

Thank you so much! I am glad you find this worth reading.
A sensational and thought-provoking piece. Its begs the question for all of us in life, who are we really? To ask that question is to ask another upon another. The cycle of living has unlimited parts in my opinion because we don't know what lies ahead of us for better or for worse. Just you say, I believe in you. I offer my hand in the part of the cycle your facing as well. Take care and keep writing. :)

Are we rely human though. Are we not robots. bits of tinkered code, programmed to follow a single mind. Are we human when we can look at the starved, the poor and feel nothing. What does it rely mean to be human?
