"The Devil made me do it." This is a line said by many throughout history. The first being the very mother of humanity, Eve. "The serpent deceived me, and I ate.". Many see this as the total downfall of humanity. Our crested throne pulled from underneath us in a moment of sin and deception. I see it as an excuse to cover up the mistakes of mankind. A riddle to exploit the weak and give pass to those who do wrong with contempt in their hearts. After all, the devil is the ultimate protagonist in this story of life right? Every screw up, every wrong doing, every little sting of defeat, owes its dues to the "creator of sins". Truly think it through. The devil works so hard to make sure YOU, as an individual, gains nothing in life and joins him in a pit of fire. You. One among billions. It sounds quite selfish doesn't it?
As I type, it has been several months since this thought has come to mind, but what if the devil, in his evil plotting ways, gave us the exact freedom meant from the very beginning? If you are to thank him for the bad, you should also give him props for the good since it would not exist without his deception. Yes, I said it. If not for the devil, you would not get to enjoy that morning coffee, those special moments with family, the benefits or the very concept of peace. If Eve never indulged her freedom, her sense of self, we would have nothing. So is it so much the devils fault, or our own human nature? We play and indulge the exact same devil every day. Passing thoughts of greed, jealousy, lusting, and thievery in some shape or form. None of us are perfect.
As for those who are Christian, no I am not claiming for you to turn the other cheek and go out and party with the devil. I just say, we need to realize that it isn't entirely his fault. We make bad decisions, bad things happen, that's just the way life is. Nothing supernatural about it.
