Pathetic Excuses.

Pathetic Excuses.

A Poem by EliJoLee

Her mind is blank
as she sits on the pathetic excuse
for a car seat,
it's faux, aging leather
cracking in places
here and there.
Rain droplets glisten red
from the stoplight
she's sitting at;
flowing red rivers
on a transparent valley.
She's disturbed
by questions
she can't find answers to,
it makes her insides squirm
with discomfort.
While waiting
for the rivers to turn
green,
she plays
connect-the-dots
with stray drops scattered
here and there,
having to start over
everytime the wipers
erased the slate clean.
While hoping to find answers
from her homemade constellations,
her thoughts are
interrupted by the
impatience of a car horn,
letting her know
that the light turned green,
letting her know
that's she's going home
with pathetic excuses
instead of answers.
