Midnight Sun

Midnight Sun

A Poem by Elie Marie

I fell in love with a new land
like I fell in love with you
hard and fast
out of the blue
not meaning to.
I fell in love with a new place
like I fell in love with you
It felt a bit like home
It was new but comfortable
It fit well
But I left
I miss it, already
But you felt like home too
You still do
I left a piece of me
in the land of the talking trees
But you, it wasn't a piece
it was my soul that stayed
I miss the familiarity of a language I don't fully understand
I miss the magic of paint colours
gracing the night skies
I miss it like it was a bit of home
And I miss you
For you felt like home, too.

Wonderful. Powerful metaphors well woven. I love the line "I left a piece of me in the land of the talking trees"

thank you so much :)
Sorry for the delay... I've been in uni mode.
home is where the heart is...but sometimes those clouds inside our heart never let us feel at home...so we keep breaking the lease and moving---if only we could let go of the past, and buy into a new love---without being so scared to.
