Ring of Roses

Ring of Roses

A Poem by Ellie Howard
"

Yet again another song; i used a mixture of my chemical romance influence and a "ring- round-the-rosies" poem and it's dark meaning. I was kind of inspired to write this after all the gun violence.

"

Guns to our heads,

Blood running down our backs,

Throwing roses out our pockets,

And falling into ashes,

Down we fall,

We fall to black,

A ring around the ground

of roses in our hands.

Our impurity lingers

Red threads tied around our fingers

Our blood breaks the ties

And the promises

To our lovers.

The bullets from the gun,

Ran red through our heads

Made you miss the black from the ash

And the falling of the sun…

We fall to our knees,

To the ground in ashes

We all fall to black,

To the black of the sun.

Blood running down our backs,

With guns to our heads,

We fall,

We fall,

To ashes and bullets in our hands.

Guns to our heads,

Blood running down our backs,

Throwing roses out our pockets,

And falling into ashes,

Down we fall,

We fall to black,

A ring around the ground

of roses in our hands.

We fall,

We fall,

To a ring of roses,

And bullets in our heads.

Nice use of a old nursery rhyme. I like the use of guns, love and a failing world. No weakness in the outstanding poem.

This was really good and creative. In a way, it reminded me of the song "Soldier's Side" by System of a Down. But I love your wording and formation of it all.
