Legacy

Legacy

A Poem by Elizabeth La

Will I die tonight?
If you are so inclined to strike me dead, I will go willfully.
But if you leave this soul to venture forth
To visit palaces, I will stand beholden to your everent grace and move forward.

If you leave this soul to venture Earth,
To know no place but a place of her own,
I will reign these palaces and iron thrones,
For until God strike me dead, until any further notice,
I will make history.

My name will leave ashes strewn across the garden steps,
and corpses of my enemies be riddled at my feet.
I will die knowing that all of God's plan for me has come
into fruition in the body of a young woman.

I am death and I am death's final wishes,
saying goodbye to the eternal moment.

There is a song sung in my name.
In ancient languages no longer listened to.
Because time is my companion to make things right,
I will be everything you asked of me.

God strike me dead, because I am ready.
I am ready to lose everything, and nothing.
The ultimate sacrifice.
Letting go. Life bids you farewell at heavens gate.
I know you, too, answer to the same name.
And your voice will speak my name softly like the whispers of the wind.
Friend, I have come again.
