The hunger

Just wondering on the things man will be willing to eat when he starves to death.

The hunger

A tasteless tongue

lapped a man

crispy skin and bones 

juicy meat and fats

all its pleads, cries and crimes.

Some hollowed stomach

devoured a soul

a banquet of charity

a feast on sanity

all its dreams, pride and woes.

A pit on a belly

swallowed a God

a dish of humanity

a slice of morality

all its thoughts, faith and wrath.

They ate it all 

every crumb, grain and sauce

the tongue numbed

the stomach burped

but they were never full.

i see a strong metaphor here...not literal eating of food,but how much will man take before he fights back...society today seems so apathetic..here in the states things are so bad, and they just get worse, the politicians fight amongst themselves, and we suffer because nothing gets fixed...back in the 60's we would be out in the streets letting them all know "we aren't going to sup on this anymore"--we would have turned over the table...and refused that meal.

well done..

Thank you for a very insightful review, Jacob. It indeed contains a lot of metaphor. This poem actually rooted from my despise in our country wherein people from the lower class to the elites (politicians as the heads), commit all kinds of crimes and uses hunger as an excuse. To the lower class, they forget morality and dignity and rob another for hunger while elites simply do it for greed. It was very distasteful. And yes, according to your review, it is plainly inquiring how much a man can take, how much will be devoured before he finds his voice. Again, thank you for the review. :)

Sometimes, I think it believe can be consume, especially when man considers himself weak and goes along with anything. It sometimes believe it loses its own power and dignity. :)

Man or woman have so many hungers and thirsts. People will go to extremes when survival is at hand . I tend to notice that those things take over our morality and thoughts when we are forced into certain conditions. Right or wrong man has to chose not to be picky when hunger and thirst are there...Bravo...............

Thank you. This is actually a poem describing how man loses his dignity, lose his God, and his humanity when he starves. This poem is triggered by everyday crimes when the only problem is that people need to eat and survive. Thank you for always reviewing my work. :)
