Mirror Chances

Mirror Chances

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

The mirror is my enemy.
It shows me what I cannot be.
I hang by threads,
Begging for sympathy.

I crawl across porcelain,
Reaching towards the glass.
Praying for my only reflection
To give me a second chance.

It shakes its head
With a sneer on its face.
I wish I were dead.
Another day I could erase.

Mirror, mirror
On the wall.
I give you my reflection,
I owe you my all.

Powerful images in this. The first two stanzas actually sent a chill down my spine. And the very last line, as I was reading was filled with anticipation. You could have gone so many different places with that, and you chose a beautiful one!

That last stanza is simple and powerful .. Nice work

Short, simple, sad, yet the feelings ring to be so true. I feel that most of us feel this way when we look back at our reflection. I think you are beautiful inside and out. Just remember when you see what you are not, that one day you can become all you want to be. Changes don't happen over night. Don't get discouraged. Always remember that dreams don't have an expiration date. xo Winter
