Field Mouse

Field Mouse

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Little field mouse
among a chorus of cicadas.

A blackbird
perched on a branch.

I find I cannot accept it:

The bird waits patiently
to maul this open, vulnerable heart.

The drizzle had turned
into a downpour.

The stillness of the woods
suddenly filled with noise.
