Hostage Love

Hostage Love

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Yesterday, you spoke to me,
making me believe that
endings are still magical.
There's a light you still hold
which brought you back
to a girl who survived trauma:
the monster within my head.

Once you left again,
I began stitching back my soul,
learning how to unmiss you.
Tending to my wounds caused by
the seeds of your emotions.
I will swallow entire stars
to heal my mangled insides.

Scary how the skin of
a gentle human
can be held hostage
by a love.

Breathtakingly gorgeous piece love the last lines

This offering seems to present equal parts of need and resentment. It is not clear whether the addressee is the party who caused the trauma mentioned, but apparently the individual left a previous relationship with the speaker, which itself seems to have been traumatic. In verse two the speaker says the wounds were caused by the other's emotions. Not sure what that means. The impression is that the speaker is considering renewing the relationship. Gut feeling is that this would be a bad move without first getting therapy.
