They Live With a Sin

They Live With a Sin

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

No--I am doing no harm;
though after I heard you were gone
I began writing in a notebook--
writing about all of them.

This time around
I want to leave it be.
But it is also my birthday
and cannot be kind
enough to forgive.

Each one of them
left you to die here
in front of everyone.
In plain sight of
every neighbor
passing by.
Cackling their sweet
& mocking laughter.

But all of this
will come together
eventually...after
they tire of
breathing all day.
Living with
such a sin.
