Entrapment of The Soul

Entrapment of The Soul

A Poem by King Wolfe (Dylan A. King)
"

.

"
Have you no clue what is happening outside,
of your imprisonment,
of black,
and of steel,
stolen form sunlight,
ensnared by shadows.
All that can be heard,
but only through deliberate gaps in pillars of iron,
are the monotonous cries of recognized wrongs,
and self pity,
and the scarce chatter of iron links.
Entrapment of the soul can take many a form,
and though by law,
every man is "free",
to me,
this is inapplicable.
Seized by corruption,
and false charges,
I am held by my sentence,
and bond by my burden,
a burden wrongly placed,
irrevocably upon me.
The moment here my life began;
The moment that I ceased to exist.
