Kitty

Kitty

A Poem by Lavery the Librettist
"

Based on the Diary of Anne Frank

"
I write this diary,
Etched with ink.
So many things to say,
Where to start I need to think.

A young jewish girl,
Barely in my teens.
A classroom filled with similar kids,
No true friend amongst them it seems.

Some family flee around the world,
To escape the german takeover.
A yellow star adorns our coats,
Our every move watched over.

But i hope one day, at the end of war,
I'll become a successful writer.
So everyone will know about,
the reign of Adolf Hitler.

But until that day, i will confide,
In my dearest friend thats kitty.
My thoughts and feelings, from my heart,
on the invasion of our home city.

Anne Frank was a fascinating young lady...I have studied her
she was an optimist in her time that is hard to believe ...if she broke a leg she would simply say glad I did not break both the books differ greatly from the movie with all the re-do movies for youth I have always believed her story told again would be great
thank you very much for sharing

I find this a lovely tribute. How many other precious, magnificent Annes there were, only God knows.

Thank you :)
Very nice tribute to an event that fewer and fewer people probably even are aware of, sadly. The writing is good, and I like the whole effort. Thank you for writing this in tribute to a very noble situation.
