The Broken Girl & Her Goodbye Note

The Broken Girl & Her Goodbye Note

A Poem by Nicole Cruz

No one notices the broken girl up until she’s dead.

All the tears she’s shed,

The pain she hid,

Everything was revealed through a simple goodbye note.

She closed her eyes,

Said her goodbyes,

And cut herself off from life.

Never giving a solid answer,

Leaving questions in the hearts of her loved ones.

All that was left,

Was that goodbye note.

The very last bit emotion of her presence,

The very last tear she shed,

The very last stabbing pain she felt,

Was all on that goodbye note.

The very last thing left to her name,

That anguished girl left the world,

Dried from her tears,

No pain,

Just that blade in her hand.

That goodbye note

Was all that was left to hold on too.

That goodbye note marked her final breath.

All the screams she screamed before were never heard.

But now, for some reason,

They’re heard loudly.

Because no one noticed the Broken Girl

Up until she died.

Great powerful and sad poem about a troubled girl who committed suicide. Well expressed and described with good reiteration of certain lines to lent emphasis on the title (Goodbye note) Good and well explored with a good (but sad) ending. Well done.
