Life Of A Fallen Leaf.

Life Of A Fallen Leaf.

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq

Plucked, by me, by you,
crushed beneath the shoe.
Rises again with winds, then falls,
reaches a distance, flies or crawls.
Lives a life then dies and lives,
Your glory again birth gives.
Wind, the killer, the birth giver,
the shiver of life, the shake of death.
The first inhale and the last breath.

In a way, the simplest things move and interact with the world in a much greater capacity than us. Leaves have seen places I could only dream of going, Thier life, however exciting, damaging, ragabash, is understood. To crush a man, a snail, a dog, or a snake, is so tabboo to most, but a leaf, though it boasts the same earthbound future, is ignored. "Wind, the killer, the birth giver..." I felt better remembering that I wasnt the only one who plucked leaves, and I loved this line. We all serve a purpous, and by all I mean all.

This is lovely. Such a throw-away subject, a fallen leaf, and yet you made me think about it, and care about it...well done!
