if i could work the cello

if i could work the cello

A Poem by Peter Green

if i could work the cello

by

if I could work the cello

i'd string a melody

notes crisp and clear and true

ringing amidst sparkling stars

igniting an icy evening sky

as if Northern Lights shimmering

off a distant horizon

metallic blue

if I could wield an artists brush

bristles delicate but robust and alive

I would slather on my canvas visions borne of hues

stolen from an overflowing palette

a prairie ocean golden  - swaying - in the wind

or maybe an ocean black and angry

battering a rocky shore - searching in the gray crevices

for lifes lost dreams

if I could master a sculptures tools

hammers heavy - chisels sharpened - worn smooth

tamed by hands rough and blistered - dry with stone dust

from a shapeless rock would rise

two lives intertwined - never touching

balancing in the vacuum of the cosmos

ever evolving - ever transforming

ever and forever

if I could command a poets quill

i would scribble together my thoughts

hand scribed on creamy white textured paper

thick and heavy - edges cut rough

simple words arranged as numbers of

a secret code - unlatching shackles and chains

a soliloquy to free trapped souls

releasing lifes energy as blue light

into the universe of love
