All Night

All Night

A Poem by Andrea
"

The morning after never came

"
Your words poured like April rain
that cold November night.
I stayed awake for you
because you promised me
the morning sun.

Blissful fires of eternity-
or so it seemed,
and I wanted it so bad.
If for your love,
if for your heart,
I'd stay up with you all night.

I laid in your arms
for forever it seems,
but than you got up
to walk away

"Don't worry"
you proclaimed,
"I will return soon
and with me
the morning sun".

I stared into the night sky
and waited
and waited
for the fiery sun
that never did rise.

This is well done. I think you can take out some words though. You should allow your readers to fill in some blanks. I think several words are unnecessary in this...

Another great poem. Well done.

Broken promises always break the heart... I like your metaphoric reference.

It could be that he went to the store and forgot his way back, or that a brain condition caused amnesia… I’ve heard of such things happening before. The one I hate is the phone call that never happens, you hear, “Oh is it Friday already?” Yes, selective memory can be a major problem. Sooner or later all promises become like unto politicians. The promise, as so well envisioned in this poem, seems as faithful as a rising sun… yet nota… I hate when that happens, but I love this poem.

Beautifully worded.

You make me think and wonder
about the outcome if he had
stayed.
Lot of questionsl

I really enjoyed this one. So much so, that I've added it to my library.
