Reflections

A Poem by ExposedSiren

She stares back at me,
Green eyes full of contempt,
Her smile missing,
Her hair unkempt....

She loves who she is...
She does not like what she sees.
The outside,
Though covered in leaves,
Seems so dead,
so Quiet,  So make-believe...

Its only a shell,
A soft Exoskeleton.
Though looks shouldn't matter,
Trivial thoughts win....

Her hips are too big,
Her waist is too thick...
She lights up a Cig,
Its making her cough...
Its making her sick...

We stare a little longer,
Not quite ready to break the gaze...
I let my eyes linger,
and I stare deep within her,
Desperately attempting to be brave.

I decide to smile,
and she smiles back...
It still looks so fake.

My break is over.
I put out my cigarette,
and walk away from the window.
