Loner on A Christmas Night

Year poem was written on: 2013

      Silence on the silent night,

          no laughter or harmony.

      Only remembrance of hope and joy,

          compassion stirring the heart.

 

      Snow falls out the cold window,

          heated in a home of solitude.

      Peace placed in his dark soul,

          like a gentle spark.

 

      Illuminating him with the light,

          mending his broken spirit.

I rarely have a poem that fits my emotions like a glove. This piece however is so relatable that it's like an echo from many holdays of the past. You're words paint both the sorrow and peaceful light in a beautiful and healing way.

Overall, I found that this poem had a wonderfully smooth and calming flow and carried it's theme strongly while keeping the words to a minimum in delivering it's desired package.

This is the perfect poem for reading on cold winter's night. I've always thought nights like this are extremely peaceful and give us time for reflection, so it was nice to see the poem go in that direction.
