If The World Would Be Like Louisiana.....

If The World Would Be Like Louisiana.....

A Poem by F.Gentil
"

Living in Louisiana all my life and constantly being active in staying relevant with the news...I truly feel that the world can learn a lot from Louisiana on what true happiness is.

"
If the world would be like Louisiana,
Then everyone would know how to have a good time.
Laissez les bons temps rouler
Would be just as common as What's Up,
And everyday, all day, people would be busting a gut.

If the world would be like Louisiana,
Money wouldn't hold much importance,
A good Gumbo is easy and cheap,
and honestly beats any type of Filet Mignon or overpriced meat.

Put, some sausage, Tasso, Andouille, Chicken, and Seafood in that pot sha,
That's all you need to have a meal that will last for the week yah.
Or for a night or two if you feeding the family and friends.

If the world would be like Louisiana,
Hospitality would be of the utmost importance.
You never know when you will be down on your luck,
So treat others with kindness because
You will find in Louisiana,
Community matters more than an individual who may be stuck up.

But, That's not to say gossip won't exist,
We are the celebrities especially in rural towns,
Somebody gonna know ya mama, ya daddy, or someone in ya family,
Everything may not be true, but people would definitely know a lot about you.

And even though everybody may be in all your tea...
If the world would be like Louisiana,
It would not be a world of Strangers.
But a place where everyone would know everyone by association of some sort.
Just like a big ole family.

The kind of big ole' Southern family where you forget uncles,
and Aunts,
May even have dated your 30th cousin,
and didn't know because after fifth, the rest don't count.

No, I'm kidding, but the way that family in Louisiana works,
You are bound to be related to somebody you don't know,
May not be an ex boo thang,
But, very well may be a co-worker, classmate, or even your Boss.

Louisiana is just a big ole' melting pot.
Many of the Caucasian's don't look Caucasian but a true variation
Of Cajun!
And the African Americans, like myself, don't look Black,
But, something we here call "Creole"
Some may be Haitian,
And others you don't exactly know what nation
Made their creation.
May even have a little bit of Native American and Asian
In the Equation.

Bottom line is, here people don't fit the scale of Black or White.
In Louisiana the stereotypes fail to apply to the whole.
And that's why there isn't as much hatred,
as Hollywood people try to start creating,
Come down to Louisiana in particular,
And you will see that not having a good time is the only thing that makes us impatient.

If the world would be like Louisiana,
They would sound like me,
Articulation in expression,
Not trying to be prim and proper,
We not royalty and will not act more than we are worth.

Because our worth is measured by the heart,
Not the type of fancy home you build on a plot of dirt.
We give the very shirt,
Off our back, if another is hurt,
And we don't ask for it back, that's just the way we are.

If the world would be like Louisiana,
Mardi Gras would be everyday.
King Cake and beads, drinking from Monday tuh Sunday.
Breaking just long enough to get our churchin' in.

Now.

We may not have the most money,
We may not be the most educated,
But, you know what,
We know the meaning of life.

If the world would be like Louisiana,
It would not take long for world peace to exist.
No wonder why if you researched,
You will find that, Louisiana is #1 in Pure Happiness.
