this is a lipogram i wrote for a class (same class the cinquaine was written for) the lipogram, for those who are unfamiliar with, is a poem using one vowel only. i chose "E"

"The Deep"

The endless Ether

left deep clefts                                        

heed me

keep knees free

                                     enter the descent

                                                                     Hell's decree bends the rent

See me!?

Steep we creep

Spent.

Endless Ether we flee

Am I allowed to borrow Sami's WOW! Apart from being form ignorant, never in a month of Sunday would I attempt such a task as you have and succeeded so brilliantly. Can understand literary explanations going over the head of someone like me.. give me simple, unstructured.. please BUT seeing the end result is an explantion in itself. Will try it but privately and discover the work involved and the success achieved by you is extraordinary. First use the chosen letter and use it intelligently, poetically and more. i would have been a terrible teacher .. no doubt in my nog ... I have a BA in Music but could not read music on sight at all and was not intended to be a rock star .. so i went into construction for 15 yrs ;) that's that part of my life .. but thank you so much .. this was a very hard form for me ... to use one vowel only and try to make some kind of sense took a whole lot of re-writes .. worth the challenge tho ... i appreciate your roaming around me pages very much and will certainly repay the reads :) peace and joy!

Oh! not easy at all ... at least for me ... the one vowel thing is easy but trying to make it say something and keeping a semblance of syntax kept me writing re-writing writing re-writing etc etc etc. ;) but it was a stimulating challenge and gave me something new to do ;) i will be looking for your lipogram...but please let me know when you post ... on the chance i may miss it .. thanks always for you kind support ... right here at the Cafe' :)))))))))))))

Mind-boggling form, My Friend, and much more challenging to accomplish than one might think. In fact, I quit teaching it, altogether, because it was so hard for me to do I didn't feel justified assigning it to students.
This is, actually, an amazingly rare Univocalic Lipogram poem, and a Pandngrammatic Lipogram is prose or poetry that uses every letter of the alphabet "except" one.
I dig the rhymes and presentation, too … quite unique and entertaining.

You never cease to amaze me.
Besides its difficulty, the most amazing thing about this piece is that you titled it and kept to the theme throughout, and it makes sense, even to ME … LOL!

Gene, I think you might be the most prolifically varied poet onsite, and never boring, I might add … LOL!
