God is a Metaphor ... With All Due Respect

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

God is a Metaphor
erupting with fingering phrases
glissando winds ripple limbs
frisson rises in all those places
dawn's sun breaks and swims

how can i think what God is?

newly fallen snow, fresh kill
heat steams wavering over
shaded rooms like  a poet's quill
enlighten corners like no other

how can i say who God is?

tuck and rolled white-red leather
the clouds lay cotton in the valleys and
in a faceless place the eyes are a trema
prickly pare cactus bleeds bended knees

how can i see where God is?

immovable and curdled milk senses
mixed in whiskeyrum tumblers
ice hiccup clinking glass  ..... a
frenetic lens
 ....and
stippled integrity ...and
icy fingers probing the most difficult;
forcing open brittle parchment
peering
loving parts i will not admit

God is a metaphor
With all due respect

Beautiful deep dive of introspection, thoughts and words here E. "God is a Metaphor...With All Due Respect"- a knockout of a title! Exquisite language and great form with questions asked and answered-or not really... Maybe we are all metaphors. Loved this provocative poem E. Happy 2020!

Without man, God is still God. Without God, man could not and would not exist. If existence is only a metaphor then one might question what it represents. But whatever it may be, it will not replace the reality that without man, God is still God. "A man said to the universe: “Sir, I exist!” “However,” replied the universe, “The fact has not created in me A sense of obligation.” Stephen Crane

Hmm, I like it! --- And I do believe that your last words are correct. Why The Good Book says, John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Well, there you have proof!

I'm honestly so amazed at how good ALL of the poems I've read by you are, Mr. Noodle!!!!! It's like they just keep getting better!!!! This one is so deep and well thought out. I honestly wish my brain could think up something this BRILLIANT!!! "God is a metaphor" such a simple phrase, yet I had to click on this poem because of just that! Oh, god, Mr. Noodle, you're so... there are no words to describe how brilliant your work is!!! (Actually, there probably are, I just can't think of any lol)
Loved this poem, it's definitely a thinker.

You are very welcome!!! :)
thought provoking poem, nicely penned. When thinking about God; my brain melts and steam arises out of my head. Where i want to seach God, Heaven and Hell; is all inside me! Even I have no time to do my job; then why i should think of god. If, God knows what i am doing; and he meant it. I once asked god; you made me do live here; i didn't ask you to make me alive; you didn't ask my consent for making me alive! good work.

Very deep introspection. God is a metaphor , a marvellous way of the omni present's portrayal.

wow you continue to amaze me this is one hell of a philosophical poem wherein very open to lots of interpretations but one thing which holds true it still depends on the faith of a being so as to measure the worthiness of another being or even the being in oneself. take care

God is to me ...all embracing...the past, the future. the universe and all that is in it...things great and small. Find a quiet spot I say: look around and marvel at the work of the Creator of all. the proof is there - all life must have a beginning and therefore an end ...unless we believe in the afterlife! Profound, deep and meaningful. Thank you for sharing. Keep safe

Given I am more prone to science than mythology I guess the title drew me in straight away. And indeed if we contemplate, as a poet might, seeking answers, and there are many things that make us doubt the existence of such a commanding, all powerful 'wizard'. Stephen Hawking even in his end days maintained his faith in science. Me I believe we are still flat earthers and so very primitive still. We understand, even in human terms, so little of where we are and what context we exist. Science provides a comfort blanket for our ignorance and feels, to many, more certain than 'old wives tales'. Yet we are still 'Flat Earthers' and there is an endless void out there with many more startling things to reveal. You capture in this questioning, reasonable voice just such questions as the poem uses some provocation to slay the reader. Very worthy.

oh...now i have to go see ;)))))))
I read and reread this poem a few times. And then peeked at some of the many-many commenst. It is almost hopeless for me to say anything new. I can only join the ones before me saying, "Well-done!"
Like so many of the reviewers, I find the title interesting, and thought-provoking. It also makes me want to have a great argument about it. Or write a poem about it. Or just "swallow it" keep it inside, and digest it till it becomes a part of me.
