Fisher and the Straw

Fisher and the Straw

A Poem by Einstein Noodle
"

a collaboration between Zahra and E.

"
Fisher and the Straw
The net is plunked and a world
never restful, is shaken again;
nudging the straw towards a whirlpool
of serendipity never sought.
excitement of threshing song
left among wasted chaff
golden yellow pulses unique
infinite sun bursting reds explode
A moment's touch did fate design
fisher and straw dancing sublime
as tides intervene before unwary fisher
the world pulls the straw to nets
the fisher bends to the wind
his neck oak and leather
his voice in baritone
sirens call to fish and men
Voices passing, touch it too;
the soul afloat, unwary of man's impasse
Oblivious to how wind and sound
play with the sanity of fishers above
gnarled brown hands toughened
nails cracked and broken
oiled by the ages
work line and net with fluid ease
sea-spirits awakened are calling to
storms. The fists tighten as
nets are heaved above;
Fisher thinks hard of a prayer
straw whisks away in the wind
by  Zahra and E.

This is full of vivid imagery and passion of poetry. I especially love the following stanxas: "The fisher bends to the wind his neck oak and leather his voice in baritone sirens call to fish and men" Also, "gnarled brown hands are toughened nails cracked and broken oiled by the ages work line and net with fluid ease" Man, what a portrait of the spirit! The whole poem is a seamless wonderful poetic story. Amazing work you two :)

I feel this should have an acoustic soundtrack. Pastoral and calm to begin with then a slow change. This has religious and symbolic overtones that add to its wonderful complexity.
Excellent work for all concerned.

Perfectly woven words to capture the imagination, the flow is seamless - one voice, with vivid images described. Two thumbs up.

A moment in time... a humble wet straw in the wind.. only poets would notice such or write on same! A pleasure to read...

YOur welcome!
I have always admired a fisherman
this piece has so much music to it
a gentle dance
between man and the sea
this image left unnoticed with the bare naked eye

its beautiful

Thank you dear Nisreen.
Cam't select one stanza above another.. each compliments the next - tis wonderful writing.

There's strength and emotion in the words; you've drawn letters on paper or screen and created an intense story. Plus, reading again.. there's theatre - every stanza graphic. A wonderful collaboration in every way.. tis as if you're joined at the emotional and linguistic hip.. or something.

I could see the tan-skinned fisher...I could smell the sea air...feel the wind....WOW...the imagery is intricate and intense. Man against nature....a battle that shall ever be. The two of you blend your ink beautifully. Lydi**
