The Maze

The Maze

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

The Maze
frenetic winds like contrails
whispering through the chambers
one man
one woman
turning twisting reaching
                                      rising
falling
hips sway lips say
unknown  -   invisible need moans  -
'round corners of unadorned halls
virgin
empty quiet apprehensions of
two minds tumbled out of a spin cycle
set at opposites
THE DOOR!
18 yr old boy ... 16 yr. old girl ......
facing flint and steel sparks in an instant fade from fire yet
deepening molten embers glow
true light to pierce the time

The Maze:

Each step a question, a chance to explore,
Seeking the exit, a prize to restore.
Lost in the labyrinth, a dance with the unknown,
A journey of courage, of seeds to be sown.

"two minds tumbled out of a spin cycle"
It's a great image; brings to mind a washing machine, of course.
This poem captures what it's like being on the emotional roller-coaster and in the hormonal hurricane of the centrifugal force of love that squeezes you dry.
I'm getting dizzy...

You are so right! I'm not too young myself, and I might have had my last "spin cycle."

This spoke to me of the difference between infatuation and love—especially love that stands the test of time. As it were.

I love the idea of it being the maze because both states can create that sense of stretching the heart and the mind, but only the long love will lead anywhere meaningful. Of course, there’s a lot to be learned from infatuation. The growing pains and learning to understand our own minds and slow down and allow time to do its work. But, the maze of love that lasts offers surprises and opportunities that aren’t available in short term relationships.

It’s a cool concept. Maybe I’m way off base in my reading. But that’s how it’s looking to me today. I love the flint and steel idea. That’s quite exacting.

Great poem, E.

One of the best things about being young … the rapture that can give you wings … still soaring years later in memory when your bones are aching to move. To be swept away in such passionate bliss is a feeling that ever abides. Well penned.

The maze, like eschers stairs are a mind melter to me E, which leads me to corridors and Chambers of the mind. Panic sets in as we grow claustrophobic within, looking for the door before breath expires.
It only occurred to me reading this how similar relationships and nightmares are. Are we doing it right? Is this the one? Needing to be a grown up and still being innocent and childlike. Woah! So much pressure.
Flames or embers, young or not so much, life, like thoughts, happen whether you are ready or not.
I do hope I have interperator this correctly and it's not really about letting someone on LSD decorate your home. Can you imagine bursting for a pee in that house? 😀

Sounds like they're so far apart
in love walking on different paths
how very sad my friend if they
want to be together.

fade from fire yet

Real emotional page burner. This gem is terse, concise, and thorough in its exposition, with simple imagery and enough poetic treatment to elate the purist -- and you honored propriety. The mature love experience is great, but maturity has nothing on first times -- the nearest thing to eternal flame. You remind us all of the soul-wrenching moments of adolescence that still bring aftershocks. I have wondered just where the line lies between adolescence and young adult. I think that road might travel right through "The Maze." Excellent work. -- Doug

The Door! I think we can all relate at some stage to that panic stricken thought.
The maze - such a complicated and complex intertwining of emotions, layered with opposing thoughts and conflicting feelings. The winds continue to frenzy around the two as they whisper, turn, twist and reach, trying to navigate it all. It's really lovely, and I can sense the sadness expressed by Cassie. Mine comes from disappointment, having known this feeling, having such high hopes and having nothing come to fruition. I wonder if Cassie feels the same.

what I get from this is not sadness at all - it's life - natural young experimental urges.

its a funny thing the evolution of sex when one allows it - teenage sex is always so quick and fumble - the ability to turn that into something rather transcendental is firstly a want and desire to explore (in my opinion) I read a fact a while back that most women, when they have sex, don't orgasm - when I read that I said 'WHAT!!!' to me unbelievable. its the learning how to give, the learning how to fall right back and receive which leads us to those moments that lead us to glimpses of the eternal.

Oh dear and now I am thinking of my two teenage sons - each with their respective girlfriends - oh dear!!!

Love you always XXX this review was clearly a digression - but hey ho - what to do!
