The Maze

The Maze

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

The Maze
frenetic winds like contrails
whispering through the chambers
one man
one woman
turning twisting reaching
                                      rising
falling
hips sway lips say
unknown  -   invisible need moans  -
'round corners of unadorned halls
virgin
empty quiet apprehensions of
two minds tumbled out of a spin cycle
set at opposites
THE DOOR!
18 yr old boy ... 16 yr. old girl ......
facing flint and steel sparks in an instant fade from fire yet
deepening molten embers glow
true light to pierce the time

Your poem recreates the anxious passion of youth, the insatiable desires without a defined path. We walk-run in cycles, dizzily, and sometimes find nothing later but fond memories, and some we never actually realized. Good write and ideal image paired with your poem.

a wonderfully confusing time in youth when pulse quickens. oh those stairs. the emotive, pensive breaks in your deep lines. definitely not a time of order and reason. classic theme and song. memorably reflective ... :)

A bit before my time, but the concept never changes.
In a way the same memories remain as well.
Dancing must be blamed for the world's' population, not forgetting the main ingredient, the music.
There is a lovely awkwardness to your poem too. Two people meeting for the first time, caught up in the moment leading to that other great moment. Mind you, also led to the fires of hell descending on you if you were unlucky.

our memories of old...and those days turned to dust.
love the dryer metaphor...
and oh...that song by Sonny James...Young Love...got that single when it came out..played it to death...
great song.
thanks for this trip back.

The maze...a brilliant analogy for the first moments of discovery. The sparks do fade, the impressions remain. The fire shapes and moulds. I loved this roller coaster ride you take your readers on and it is a heady feeling. Appreciated very much E !

Dear Noodle,

I appreciate your work because of your unique style. There has always been an e.e. cummings progressive influence within your words; it is lyrical and "frenetic" :P. You understand the rules of grammar and simple mechanics yet you understand poetry is able to be rebellious. You are a true poet and musician at the Heart.

The content has struck at the cello heart strings of mine. Society frowns upon age differences. I love the raw beauty that is contrasted with the logic of a "maze"; an eternal change in the cerebral labyrinth. Romance is not always a pretty thing to see neither is sex. I imagined two virginal youths entertwined together in the moment attempting to fit like a still shot jigsaw. Then they learn they must always sum up their parts to make up a whole.

Visually, "The Maze" concentrates on the mechanical aspect of the Left Brain. In contrast, the imagery and details dances meticulously together into a dance. Stunning and raw beauty comes to my mind.

Thank you for sharing, Einstein Noodle. You truly are kindred to e i n s t e i n perspectives.

Yours truly,
V25
