without risking failure there would be no success. better to fail than never try. bridging a divide is not an easy thing. your structure, layout and words attempt to do just that. so close, so close. we feel lost until that last step is completed. 'please don't go' - indeed ... :)

This is a timely message with a very special day coming up...nudge, nudge....(don't forget!). Being lost for words in any sense; be it written or spoken only results in silence, blank pages and distance, so it is important to keep the words close at hand and freely flowing. Barring that.....you can always say it with flowers...nudge, nudge....An interesting poem, Mr. Einstein. Your title word is something I struggle to comprehend and stubbornly refuse to give in to. Failure is not an option for me. 🌹

consider me nudged Victoria .. tho the walls, halls and in-betweens are empty at this time .. except for my Big Dog Beauregard, myself and the dust .. but its a reflective time as well .. i don't refuse it ;) i am glad you point out the title .. i did struggle with it a bit as it is a powerful word .. especially in connection with the poem ... they are just words after all ... sometimes they flow and sometimes no ... i am taking your example to heart young lady ... communication is too important to give up on for sure ... especially with those close to us ... thanks so much for taking time ... reading .. sharing your thoughts and impressions .. that's what we are all here for eh!? .. here at the Cafe'

I rather relate to this one... as you have seen in my writing I have a love-hate relationship with words. The way silence, or words that couldn't be spoken in their moment, oppressively crush us under their weight. Will it be cathartic to scream what stifles me so? On the other hand, I can imagine the chaff and dust as being all the words we don't need. As if all the words in the world are not what we need... but rather the few drifting at the edge of our tongue. Simultaneously the most genuine, the most contrived... and so we suffocate beneath words lacking meaning, so much of what we don't need.

It reminds me of the final part of the film "5 centimeters per second" in which describing how words became that suffocating silence, the MC says, "Because the letters had already lost their meaning. Unable to grasp each other’s present, shying away from the truth that threatened our bond, from our utter estrangement. They had become nothing more than insipid rows of empty words…”

Yet, no failure no success.
Though, there's that other failure. The failure of communication, the wrong word at the wrong time, or the greatest failure of all. The words that could have saved someone but were never spoken.

The yearning for connection is palpable in your words. Your chosen picture speaks to the mind of separation, but I feel something deeper like separation from the source of self. Being shaken to the core of everything we thought we understood and needing reassurance to bring the self back to center.

As vital as connection to others is, sometimes connection to or understanding of our inner world is the most important thing. Without this, connection to others can be impossible. This poem is quite poignant in its pleading. We need at all times—something—the specifics are less clear and sometimes that can be the hardest thing. Great poetry, E.

This made me think of friends going their separate ways over time, how they try to reach out to each other initially but then as life goes on, they just give up. It's a plea to the other person to reach out and talk because without words, their relationship would dwindle, and even though none of them wants that, it's hard to take the first step towards the other person.
