A Feeling Mourned

A Feeling Mourned

A Poem by Jimmy Yetts

I never believed it was love--such a soaring
sentiment would not have felt so wispy, so fragile.
Yet, despite its apparent rootlessness, need for
constant tending, I was affected; my slumbering
soul strangely stirred. Something surprising--
sweet and satisfying--did occur. I now find myself
fervently wishing our comforting non-love
had lasted longer.

I guess sometimes it is better if we don't name it...that can be a jinx.
Just feel it, don't call it love.

Thank you, Lale!
Sometimes Jimmy you don't know what you've got till it's gone. Pretty sure that is a line in a Joni Mitchell song. Love doesn't always come in with a trumpet fare, it can creep up on you and tickle you when you least expect it. Always sad when it doesn't work out and there are regrets. Poignant piece.

About
Didn't always love to write, though, early on, I realized the art came relatively easy to me. When I eventually discovered there were people who, actually, seemed to enjoy my offbeat sentiments, I beg.. more..
