Blame It On The Rain

Blame It On The Rain

A Poem by Jazzlyn B Barden

After all the good times,

The bad ones pour in.

The sun no longer shines,

The rain never ends.

Where did all the good times go?

It seems they just flew right out the window,

And we can no longer say we made it through everything,

Because even though I’m far away you’re the one who really left.

So I guess I’ll blame it on the rain,

It was always sunny when we were together,

And now that we’re not It’s only stormy weather.

I’ve prayed and prayed,

But the rain won’t go away.

Endless pain,

Never ends,

Will I ever see the day,

Where there’s no more pain,

And no aftermath of the rain.

Maybe there’s a rainbow,

At the end of my storm,

Where colors will shine brightly,

And gives me hope for this world.

But for now,

I’ll stay blaming my pain,

On the rain.

It's a bit funny because I chose to read this particular poem first due to the fact that Rain was in the title. I absolutely love the rain but the rain pours sadness. The thing about sadness and the poems that express such an emotion is that sadness makes for the most beautiful poetry. The poem you have written here expresses such depth and feelings that promotes beauty when skillfully illustrated as you have done here.

We each seem to have our moments... sometimes we share them. We seem to seldom understand them and often let them become memories of before our time.

I like how you are relating your feelings of sadness and heartbreak to the rain, This poem reminds me a little of one of my poems One with the rain.
I liked this poem it is full of emotion and has great meaning.
I hope the rain clears up for you and the sun shines your way.
Great poem.

I like the way you've carried the "rain" analogy thru-out your poem, expressing in different ways, how this situation developed & how it feels. I like the way the narrator decides to blame the rain, which is a good way to represent the way people will often refuse to focus on what's really going on in their lives, but instead they invent a story that they're sticking to, no matter what. This poem does express mostly generalities . . . rain, pain, rainbows, colors shining brightly, etc. As you continue your writing, your poems will be more relatable, the more you drill down into specific details about real life situations. Show me what has actually happened to bring on all this rain.
