I hope it’s been
Fun-

The trials
They’ve been
Trialed

The

Races
You’ve run-

Was it
Beneficial
To all
Or

Only to some-

What have
You done-

Speak kind words

Or

Shun some-

It’s not for the only
It’s all
Or simply
None-

It’s better
For loving
And caring
For sharing

But

Greed is of
No need
So
Where has
It come-

First

Or

Last

Is it needed
To gasp

To think
Or to drink

Into self pity
To sink-

Well
You’ll know
In your heart
Where you
Did take part

Let the New Year
A better
Mark in your heart
Set you apart-

It’s not for the gold
Or the bragging
Stories
To be told-
Making the heart
Grow cold

It’s the love
Warmth and joy
It’s no toy

But by the way
You care and love
Others
Your sister
And brother
That makes
The difference

Worthwhile-

So let’s extend
Loving care
To the lonely
And lost out there

None- " I was involved ..paying close attention .. after that i think the use of second person begins to lend to a feel of "preachy" and more of an indictment to me the reader .. but that is its risk eh!? I like the theme and the direction to wise living ... its takes a bit of that to come to the conclusion that things never happen just for one's own sake .. but for many ... love that my friend .. your closing lift me up and encourages me to begin this new day ... with a fresh and better attitude .. thanks for sharing Thoughts in Time ;)

This is a very true heartfelt poignant poem Kelly. That speaks volumes. As, we do live in a self-centred world of late. Where the majority of people just care about themselves and to me that is very sad. We should all love they neighbour, and care about each other and how compassion, love and understanding towards each other. It cost nothing at all. To be nice and caring. Your poem. Shows what a loving heart can do. Nice one Kelly.

The world seems such a frenetic place these days and I guess we all get caught up in our litte, self centred bubble, this at the cost of empathy, caring, thoughtfulness. I've been living in a small close for nigh on 15 years and know very little of folk that love two doors away.
