i want to stop the ticking sometimes...because time is flying by much too quickly...in the older years it seems so....when we were kids, days lasted forever...didn't they seem to?

the epitome of simplicity ... we set them loose upon ourselves and they enslave us arrrrrrrrrrrgh! but you have not given this one an alarm ;)))))))))))))))))))))))))) its a eunuch clock ... i have me great grandfathers Captains Clock and i find its ticking comforting ... life's continuance so to speak ... horror strikes if i have failed to wind it on time and it goes silent ;} how marvelous your "I Am A Clock" wakes up lots of thoughts, feelings and memories ...

Been said that if a new baby or animal is restless, place a wrapped clock nearby. Tis like the sound of a human's heart beating and therefore, and, supposedly, comforting. And actually that works for me, even though i have an alarum system., diagonally across my bedroom i have an old clock that sometimes when going through an bout of insomnia, does nt matter the time showing, I wind up my old clock and its more often or not works? Perhaps the focus on a regular beat, maybe it distracts, just don't know, Kelly.

Just realised that your brief, oddly inspiring poem, has made me think of a heart stopping.. might have made a great Hallowe'en post! Meantime, thank you as often you do, for another smidge of your thinking. xx

haha my dear, I know that feelings because I can't sleep to these sounds too, it's like each tick-tock is a thought rolling in the mind, Your mind becomes the clock! though they say that the mind can be familiar with it in time, then can sleep safe and sound. poor clock, it has its needs just like us, but in my opinion You did great by stopping it not only because of the annoying sound, but also when we stop feeling time, it's when the miracles are opened to us :)

The next time you hear a ticking clock, notice how you react to it. If it irritates and drives you to distraction you may suffer from 'Misophonia'! But ... I am soothed by your prose ... so everything is tickety-boo.. Nice write my friend ... :-)

Lol I do love the sound but I’m too sensitive to everything so it’s best I don’t hear the ticking or tocking through the night -was just a bit of fun my sister came up with when I told her that I moved the clock while putting something on the shelf nexto it and it started ticking again ..so she said..I need to tick...🌹
